WORLD CUP BOOSTS TOURISM IN PUTRAJAYA

NEW STRAITS TIMES SUNDAY HEADLINE

At a time when many cities around the world are concerned about falling Tourist numbers, Putrajaya City in Malaysia has reported a record 2.6 million in 2008 according to Sunday last’s New Straits Times. The good news is that our World Cup series played a vital part in this success.

Tan Sri Samudin Osman is the President of Putrajaya Corporation. He played a major role in bringing the first World Cup Stop to be staged in Malaysia to the City of Putrajaya in 2008. This beautiful part of Malaysia is a short commute from Kuala Lumpur. Where Waterski and watersports facilities are concerned, this is one of the most spectacular locations today. Plans to return again with the World Cup to Putrajaya this year will be announced shortly when the 2009 World Cup Calendar is published here on our Website.

Tan Sri Samudin Osman and his colleagues in Putrajaya have done enormous work in bringing a whole series of spectactlar world class events to this area – and hence the impressive tourism achievements. The programme for 2009, in addition to another World Cup Stop, will include the Putrajaya Extreme Games, the F.3000 Boat Race, the International Dragon Boat Festival and the Premier Cup International Horse Show. Our World Cup team is delighted to have played a part in helping Putrajaya to show the world what it has to offer. As the TV show of each World Cup Stop is distributed to over 500 million viewers around the world, more and more will see for themselves the excitement of a Putrajaya Waterski experience.
