LIUZHOU IS CERTAIN TO SEE A BATTLE OF THE WORLD CUP GIANTS
In the coming 10 days, we will see the very best of both Wakeboard and Waterski Jump capture the imagination of the huge crowds anticipated in Liuzhou City in South West China. Predictions are almost impossibe at this stage. It is a first time visit to this spectacular downtown Liu River site. It will be our first 2009 World Cup Stop for our Riders following a hectic 2008 World Cup season for them. For our Jumpers, all we can do is look back at our Dubna Russia World Cup Stop earlier this summer and guess what might happen
In Dubna Russia, with almost 30,000 enthusiastic World Cup fans, Ryan Dodd CAN and June Fladborg DEN stole the show. Ryan jumped 67.1m to take the title from Jaret Llewellyn CAN and Freddy Krueger USA. All were greatly relieved to see Jaret recover from that amazing crash. June jumped 50.9m to take the title from
Marie Vympranietsova GRE and World Jump Champion, Ageliki Andriopoulou GRE. Both Marie and Ageliki are recovering from injury right now and we wish them a speedy return to the water – but it will not be before the Liuzhou World Cup Stop. However, Freddy Krueger and Jaret Llewellyn will be there to avenge Ryan Dodd’s earlier victory !
For Wakeboard, we have to look back to our Doha Qatar World Cup Stop on the warm blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. There it was the unbeatable Phillip Soven USA who took the title ahead of Dean Smith AUS and Andrew Adkison USA. That is bound to be another thriller with a World Cup title at
stake. Raimi Merritt is now just 16 years old – very young for a past World Cup winner. In Doha she truly was sensational and did the impossible by getting ahead of the huge talent of World Cup Star, Dallas Friday USA and also the talented Shelby Kantar USA. Again, who knows what our Riders will do in Liuzhou. One thing is absolutely certain – it will be a thriller and is certain to have many
surprises. The site itself may also have some great surprises – and you will be able to follow these here on our Website – and later on our special World Cup TV Channel on YouTube / http://www.youtube.com/iwsfworldcup
