Now that we are just weeks away from kicking off the sixth season of the  Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup series, all eyes were on the recent celebration of the 50th Masters at Callaway Gardens, Georgia USA, to see if our World Cup Stars would rise to the top in this particular challenge. Who is most likely to dominate this World Cup year ?

Our World Cup stars did not disappoint.

Jimmy Siemers USA is certainly on a roll. Having taken World Cup Shortboard titles in Doha, Qatar and Putrajaya Malaysia last season, he has now added the 2009 Masters title with a score of 11,590 points. Canada’s Whitney McClintock took the World Cup Slalom title in Dubna Russia last season and now she has also captured the Masters Shortboard title

with a score of 8250 points.

In Jump at the Masters, it was World Cup Stars Freddy Krueger USA and June Fladborg DEN who took these titles. Krueger walked away with the World Cup season overall Jump title in 2008 and a score of 70.4m was enough to now add the 50th Masters title. Fladborg is also on a winning streak and her distance of 52.4m not only gave her the Masters title but also sets her up nicely for the approaching World Cup season

In Wakeboard, past World Champion Andrew Adkison USA, was on the World Cup winners podium in 2008 in Singapore, Egypt and Qatar. To take the 50th Masters title, he had to beat World Cup season champion Phillip Soven USA. This he did in style. This battle with Soven is certain to continue.

Congratulations to all our World Cup stars on their magnificent 50th Masters performances at Callaway Gardens, Georgia. They have certainly added greatly to the level of anticipation for our 2009 World Cup season. Final World Cup dates will be confirmed in this coming week.
